For the first few months of the year I have been using my lush products mentioned in my previous post. However, the redness caused by my rosacea has been reducing and since my last round of laser treatment has been much more manageable. What hasn’t been manageable is the spots that accompany my rosacea. I don’t think I’ve ever had them truly under control, simply periods when they have been better. So I had a hunt around on the internet to look for recommendations to add to my skincare routine.
Pixie Glow Tonic
The first new addition to my skincare products is Pixie’s Glow Tonic. I actually came across this after reading a buzzfeed post on cult beauty products and read it was great for acne prone skin. With an M&S right by my work I ordered the small 100ml bottle for £10 and decided to give it a go. I’ve been using it for several weeks now and my spots are greatly reduced. They are not completely gone, but I normally have lots of small spots on my skin, like dots ,not necessarily raised. These have reduced significantly and my skin looks much clearer and healthier. The tonic itself feels nice on my skin when applying. I pour some on a cotton pad and wipe it over my skin in the morning and evening after cleansing. I don’t find the smell great. A lot of people seem to love the smell but it reminds of potpuri! Not my favourite sent in the world! But it does the job and that’s what matters. I would definitely recommend anyone with spot prone skin giving this a try.
Good Things Deep Pore Anti Blemish Lotion
The second change to my skincare is the Good Things Deep Pore Anti Blemish Lotion. I chose the Good Things brand specifically because it’s paraben, mineral oil, sodium laureth sulphate and animal ingredients free. This is marketed as a cleanser and toner but I use the Glow Tonic afterwards. I was running out of garner micellar water, which I love as a cleaner, and thought I would try something new aimed at problematic skin. This works extremely well as a cleanser and I really like the smell which is strawberry. It’s called a lotion but it’s a water like micellar water, which personally I like best. I use this at the end of the day and it easily gets off all my make-up and my skin feels lovely and clean afterwards. The only downside is the micellar water gets off eye make so easily and this requires a few swipes to do the same job.
Good Things Miracle Mattifer Lotion
The next change is to my moisturiser, another Good Things product in the Miracle Mattifier Lotion. I prefer this moisturiser to the Lush Celestial Lad that I have been using prior to this. Over time I gradually fell out of the love with the Lush moisturiser and I didn’t love the way my skin felt after using it. It didn’t feel hydrating and it dried matt but too matt for my, if that makes sense! But I really like this moisturiser. It feels hydrating and rich but dries matt in the perfect way for my skin.
Good Things Overnight Clearing Serum
Finally, I have been using the Good Things Overnight Clearing Serum every night. I apply this after cleansing and toning before my moisturiser. Its consistency is very like the moisturiser as a thick-ish cream but dries matt. It goes on well and dries very quickly. This isn’t a miracle worker in that your skin is clear after one use, but after several weeks I do feel that if I am getting a spot or my skin is looking like I might breakout this helps to stop it happening. It also seems to help clear up existing spots faster.
I don’t know whether it’s the combination of the new products or one of them in particular but my skin is really starting to clear up and look healthy again. I still use the Lush angels on bare skin everything morning and their 9to5 cleansing milk before I use the Deep Pore Anti Blemish Lotion at night. I will continue to use them all and report back if I find any changes!
