Last week my husband took me on a surprise date night to the newly refurbished Stamford Pub in Bowdon. I had read about the renovations and wanted to see in person what the new pub looked like. I wasn’t left disappointed!
I think I would class this as a gastro-pub. There is a main bar and pub area with lots of comfy seating and gorgeous country décor. Then an additional dining room lies to the right of this area.
Dining Room, Stamford Arms
The pub has been refurbished beautifully. It has a great atmosphere. The décor is country pub but with an industrial twist. The lighting is very industrial with exposed bulbs and wiring. The bar area is clean and well attended with plenty of choice. The prices are not too bad for such an affluent area as well.
We ate first in the dining room which is a fabulous open plan room with a view of the kitchens. The menu was varied and will contain even more choice after the soft opening is complete. The food itself was absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips for main and it was the best pub fish and chips I have ever had. Really tasty! I had crème brulee for desert which was also scrumptious.
My husband went for the burger which he told me was really good as well!
After dinner we went for a drink in the pub area which was really lovely. The atmosphere was so cosy and welcoming. We sat and chatted for a while before heading home.
I would definitely recommend you check out this pub. The new team should be really proud of themselves. They have done a fantastic job and I will be heading back there!
