My skin, where to start. I was extremely lucky that during my teenage years I had great skin. It was normal, smooth and only the occasional spot during hormonal periods. Then I hit my twenties, about six months before I was due to get married and my skin imploded. I was red, blotchy, and spotty. After several trips to the GP I was eventually diagnosed with rosacea. Unfortunately, knowing what skin condition I have doesn’t necessarily make it better. I started off a round of antibiotics and creams and it seemed to improved. That, combined with an exceptional make-up artist, I made it through my wedding.
I have spent the following years attempting to get my skin under control. I have been very fortunate to received laser pulse treatment on the NHS and three treatments in I do think my skin is less red than it was. My problem now is the acne side and I still don’t feel I have got that under control. I have found certain products and types of products that work well for my skin, but I am still searching for the perfect combination. Therefore, skin care is extremely important to me.
As a rosacea sufferer, and as a woman in her early twenties looking to protect her skin and reducing aging affects, SPF is extremely important to me. I have tried several different products when looking for a daily SPF that agrees with my skin and my lifestyle.
Originally I was looking for an oil free moisturizer with a built in SPF 50. Oh how naïve I was! After spending hours scouring the internet the products were either too expensive or not what I was looking for. So I decided to look for an SPF product on its own. I didn’t want a sun cream because they make me break out and clog my already large pores. So I began my search for an SPF that has taken me through several different products, but it is The Body Shop® Multi-Protection Essence that stood out from the crowd for me.
The consistency of this product is very milky which means it goes on like a dream and absorbs quickly and easily into the skin, so you can get straight on with your make up. I normally put this on after my moisturiser and before my primer. It makes my skin feel lovely and smooth before I’ve even applied my primer. It doesn’t really have a fragrance – again a positive for my poor skin! Not only is it SPF 50 it is also targets parabens and other nasties from the environment that can damage over your time.
