I love it when you find a place that you can relax and feels like home. Morte Subite is one of those places.
I first went here a few years ago when my husband and I stumbled across it on a date night in Altrincham. To get to Morte Subite you go down an alleyway to a door. This door leads to stairs going down. Suddenly you’re in Morte Subite. Eastern European décor, mismatched furniture, low lighting and an extensive menu of beers that puts everywhere else to shame.
On Thursday, at the start of a long weekend, we found ourselves here again after a quick bite to eat.
There are literally hundreds of beers on offer here. Pages and pages of menu split up by country and style of beer. Personally I am fan of the fruit beers.
My favourite beers is the Liefmans Fruitesse. This is a really light, fruity beer that is simply delicious. It is described as an intense flavour of strawberries, raspberries, black cherries, elderberries and blueberries. It’s very light and fresh with a gorgeous fruity taste.
There are all sorts of flavours of beer on offer here. Another one I enjoy is Lindemans Framboise (Raspeberry) beer. This is a bit thicker and very raspberry. Almost like a fruit coulis taste. I personally really like it but it’s a bit much for my husband.
All the beers are served in their own individual glasses based on what you ordered. There’s also an option for three third pints to sample what’s on tap.
There is literally something for everything at Morte Subite. The waitresses/waiters really know their stuff and can give you great recommendations to try. As winter is now here they also offer a mulled spiced apple and vodka drink that is also delicious!
Overall, a fabulous place that I will keep visiting!
