I love trying new skincare products and these past few weeks I have been discovering three lush face masks: cupcake, rosy cheeks and catastrophe cosmetics.
Each caters to a different skin problem I have. I have rosacea, which causes redness and spots that at times I find hard to control. Rosy cheeks promises to reduce redness, cupcake cleanses and clarifies and Catastrophe Cosmetics to cleanse and calm.
You keep these fresh face masks in the fridge, which means they are lovely are cooling when you apply them. As they are fresh face masks they have a short shelf life and only last about 3 weeks. This is disappointing because while they are not extortionate priced they are not cheap and 3 weeks is very short compared to other products.
According to the website this mask cleanses, gently removes dirt while nourishes and toning. It aims to calm redness and soothe skin. Obviously coming from the fridge it felt very cooling on my skin as I applied it. It’s a lovely pale pink colour and smells of roses which is very pleasant. As it dries it hardens and tightens but not in an unpleasant way. I left it on for about 10 minutes before removing it with warm water in the shower.
Afterwards my skin felt very soft and cleansed, however it terms of redness I saw no noticeable difference. It had not calmed my skin in any way even though it had cleansed my skin and it looked very nice.
Overall I would give this face mask a 6/10 but for reducing redness it had no effect.
This face mask promises to calm, cleanse and moisturise. It contains blueberries and smells absolutely delicious – unless you hate blueberries! It went on the skin very nicely and again I left it on for about 10 minutes before removing it with warm water.
When I removed this face mask my skin looked fantastic. Due to my rosacea I suffer from spots and lots of little lumps and bumps that mar my complexion. But after using this face mask these were markedly reduced and my skin looked less red as well. To the touch it felt extremely soft and looked rejuvenated. This face mask was excellent.
This mask is easily a 9/10 for me and I would purchase it again.
If you like chocolate this is the mask for you. It smells wonderfully of chocolate, with chocolate pieces within the mask. It applied thicker that the other two masks but still went on easily and smoothly. After ten minutes the smell had become a little sickly for me and I was ready to remove it.
Looking in the mirror, there wasn’t a drastic difference between my skin before. It hasn’t reduced the redness or lumps and bumps like catastrophe cosmetic had but my skin did feel very soft and cleansed. Overall I was quite underwhelmed with this face mask.
This mask gets 3/10 for its non-results.
