Wow. 2018 is actually here! The past year has been a whirl wind in more ways that one. I wanted to take some time to reflect on all the changes in the past year.
This has been a negative year all round for many people. So I wanted to make a list of all the positive things that have happened in my life this year.
Started a blog
This has been the year that I finally did it. I started my blog. That’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time now. I always made excuses of why I needed to wait or why I couldn’t. This is the year I pushed everything aside and took the plunge!
I love writing and I wanted to bring that into my life through a blog. I love writing and planning all the job posts. I love seeing things and thinking of my blog. I am so happy that I make the step and started writing. If there is something you want to achieve and you haven’t taken that step yet, do it. You won’t regret anything for trying.
Practised Self Care
In the final part of the year I have invested in making time for some self care. It can be anything from taking the time to have a bath or paint my nails. I also invested in getting my hair done and having a massage.
This is something I will be continuing into 2018. It is so important to take some time to yourself. Even if that’s five minutes. It helps to de-stress and focus my mind.
Wrote a book
Back in 2012 I wrote my first book. I just got it out of my head onto paper without much thought about what I was going to do with it.
Over the past year or so I have taken that book, re-written it all in third person, add in new characters perspectives. Basically a total re-write!
2017 was the year I finally finished writing that book. Now it’s under a full edit and spruce up ready to try my luck sending it to publishers.
Finished renovating the upstairs of my house
My husband and I bought a house that was a complete renovation project. I’m talking a total wreck that needed new wiring, central heating, decoration, bathroom etc.
It’s taken a long time but we have finally finished all the upstairs of the house. The downstairs in now ready for a re-vamp and we hope to finish the whole project this year.
Renovating a house is hard work. Especially if you don’t have a magic pot of money to pay someone to do it all. We work hard and paycheck to paycheck we work our way through the house.
While we aren’t finished yet it is a great achievement to reach this milestone.
Now 2018 is full of good things to look forward to:
- We have two weddings to attend this year, one of which I am the best man.
- My husband and I celebrate our 5th Wedding anniversary and 10 years together.
- Growing my blog and improving my writing and blogging.
- Sending my book out to publishers and seeing what happens!
- Finishing the renovation of our house
Whenever negative things happen (because life isn’t good all of the time) I try to concentrate on all the good things that have already happened and the good things yet to come.
Let’s make 2018 the best year!
